AESLA 2024

The 41st International Conference of the Spanish Society for Applied Linguistics (AESLA) will be held at the Universitat Politècnica de València on the 17th, 18th and 19th of April, 2024, and will be organized by the Department of Applied Linguistics of this university.

The motto, “Doing Discourse Analysis and Language Teaching in the Artificial Intelligence Era”, is directly related to three major topics of great significance and impact within Applied Linguistics today. Firstly, the various ways that may be implemented to analyze language and discourse, so that they fulfill a relevant function in society and serve for human development. Secondly, the teaching and acquisition of languages, a fundamental aspect in the globally interconnected world in which we live. And thirdly, the reflection on Artificial Intelligence, a very new field that is being rapidly and deeply established among us, which we must study rigorously from the point of view of Applied Linguistics.

In addition to these topics, the conference aims to be a forum for scientific debate and the sharing of research results in the multiple fields in which Applied Linguistics has something to contribute to the world and society nowadays. These areas can be consulted here.

It is, therefore, a meeting of researchers, professors, social agents and professionals of Applied Linguistics, at the highest level, whose objective is to contribute in a relevant way to the advancement of the various areas related to this very multidisciplinary field of linguistic study and its applications. National and international experts who work in these areas will gather together in Valencia to share their research and knowledge, within a cosmopolitan environment, close to the sea, which will certainly be a very fruitful experience, both on a personal and professional level, for anyone who has any kind of interest in Applied Linguistics.
